BCIS has instituted a procedure where certain
students from certain countries are required to special registration when
they enter the country. Also, special rules about port of departure and
departure procedures apply to special registrants, and special registrants may
be required to re-register annually (BCIS notifies you if they wish to see
you. The consequences of failing to comply can be severe.
To find out if the BCIS thinks you are special you can gather information at their
website or at the NAFSA
website.
Information
for students who register at the time they enter the country.
If you are requested to visit, the closest designated office to Concordia is Bloomington. Driving directions and a map are available. You can only
register Monday through Thursday, and they only accept a limited number of people
each day, so it is suggested you arrive very early in the morning of the day
you wish to register.
You should bring with you your current, valid passport, I-20 form, I-94 form,
a completed bioform (link to word form), transcript and other documents which
show you have been legally maintaining your status in the US.
