Celebrating a Century

Retired Navy Capt. Lloyd Mostrom '33, Arlington, Va., celebrated his 100th birthday in July with family and friends from near and far (California, Florida and New York) and received well wishes from Gov. Tom Kaine, the Arlington County Council, Willard Scott, the Hawley (Minn.) Herald newspaper and many others. Congressman James Moran presented Mostrom with a certificate, and the U.S. flag was flown over the Capitol in his honor.

Cobber Coincidence

Representing experience from both the 20th and 21st centuries as members of The Concordia Choir, Bess (Moravitz) Yunek '07, Baton Rouge, La., and Stuart Folland '62, Tallahassee, Fla., united their musical talents with Theatre A La Carte and Tallahassee Little Theatre in the 2009 summer production of "Titanic: The Musical."

Roommates Celebrate Together

Less than two weeks after Lois (Anderson) '61 (far left) and Marlin Ness '60(far right), North Branch, Minn., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, they joined Mary (Grover) '60 and Carl Scheie '60, Gold Canyon, Ariz., to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in August 2009. Prior to their weddings, Lois and Mary were roommates and Marlin and Carl were roommates.

100th Birthday, Cobber Style

Cobber friends and family reunited to celebrate the 100th birthday of Marie (Elton) Reitan '32 (center) on July 18. Guests came from Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Nevada, Minnesota, California and even Norway. Cobbers included Les '64 and Diane (Reitan) '65 Zoller, Marian (Reitan) Li '69, Suzanne Zoller '95, Kurt '96 and Kristin (Zoller) '94 Kohorst, Mike '61 and Pat (Riedberger) '61 Elton, John Elton '60 and Kay (Bergan) DeRoos '63.

Things are Looking Up

Fourteen-month-old Torren, son of Kristina and Michael Northcutt '90, Liberty Lake, Wash., already has his sights set on Concordia.





Kingsmen Reunion

The Kingsmen outreach team reunited for their 40th anniversary celebrating the beginning of their travels in the summer of 1969. On her Way

Five-month-old Annika, daughter of Heidi (Erstad) '94 and John '94 Hulberg, Brookings, S.D., dons a Concordia T-shirt handed down from her sister Erin, who was born in 2002.




A Niblet of a Fan

Solomon Kai, son of Patricia and Mark Norquist '93, Minnetonka, Minn., may not be old enough to eat corn yet, but he is already on the right path to being a friend of Kernel, Concordia's mascot.




Fearing the Ear in Slovakia

Cobbers Craig Johnson '74, Fargo, N.D., and Emily (Malm) Marcusen '03, Minneapolis, found themselves at home in a Slovakia cornfield while teaching English as a second language with a mission team from Fargo.
