A Message from President Pamela Jolicoeur
Dear alumni, parents and friends,
We are beginning the new year and the new academic semester in
a very different economic environment than was the case when we
celebrated the arrival of 2008 (just a year ago). The current national
economic crisis touches all of us as well as our families and friends.
However, I am pleased to report that the college is doing as well as can
be hoped for in this time of uncertainty.
Enrollment is strong. The Knutson Campus Center is fully
renovated and has become the community gathering place that we
dreamed it would. Major enhancements in instructional technology are
underway. New offerings in art, business, languages and the sciences
are enhancing our academic distinctiveness. Expanded international
learning opportunities are further strengthening our leadership in
K-16 global education. We look to the future with confidence. At the
same time, we are keenly aware of the challenges we face to realize the
strategic vision we have for this special college of the church.
The national economy is having an impact on both the college’s revenue and expenses. We are
being prudent in resource management to maintain quality and preserve value for our students
and their parents. We are working closely with those families who have experienced or anticipate
a major change in income to ensure that our students have every opportunity to complete their
Concordia degree.
The coming year will be challenging for the college and for our families. We are blessed
with a long history of careful planning and your generosity of spirit and treasure that enriches
the Concordia community. I am grateful for your commitment to Concordia and for your
prayerful support.
