Robert Foss

Robert Foss ’65 worked 29 combined years at Concordia, as a faculty member and administrator.

After graduation from Concordia, Foss was an insurance adjuster in Devils Lake, N.D., and later a public accountant in Grafton, N.D. He spent nearly 10 years at the Grand Forks (N.D.) Air Force Base initially as a fiscal control officer and internal auditor, receiving a special recognition award for superior performance. He was one of the auditors responsible for every entity on the Grand Forks base, Duluth International and other sites.

From 1976 to 1985, Foss was the controller at Concordia College and assisted the vice president for Financial Affairs. He also served for seven months as acting vice president for Financial Affairs. During this time he earned a master’s degree from the University of North Dakota and became a certified public accountant. Foss worked as an independent financial planner in Fargo from 1985 to 1988 and received the Financial Planner of the Year Award before returning to Concordia to teach in 1988.

Foss’ specialty is financial accounting and he taught many courses in accounting, business law, managerial finance and investments. He also led May Seminars. Most recently he helped develop a classroom renovation project for three classrooms that were using computers on wheels.

He is looking forward to retirement activities including a hiking trip in Colorado, spending time with his 9-year-old grandson and taking a fall trip to Russia.
