Marcelle (Reitan) Horton, Breckenridge, Minn., was featured in a Daily News story after retiring from organ playing at Bethel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton, N.D., after 62 years.

Virgil Syverson, Williston, N.D., conducted his final concert as the Williston City Band director; Gov. John Hoeven was among those in attendance.

Ann Drummond Hughes, Portland, Maine, is the author of "So Ends This Voyage: The Sailing Vessels of Trufant & Drummond of Bath, Maine."

Norman Holen, Minneapolis, will have a one-person exhibition of his recent clay figures through Oct. 23 in the Christensen Center at Augsburg College; the reception will be 5-8 p.m. Oct. 3, with a gallery talk at 5:30 p.m.

Craig Johnson, Plymouth, Minn., wrote "Eat the Grapes, Don't Fight the Battles," a memoir of his teaching years in Turkey.
