Excelling As A Student And Leader
By Sara Schwartz '09
There are so many activities to get involved in at Concordia. During my first year I represented my class as a freshman senator and served on the student selection panel committee, a group of students involved in the selection-making process for student leaders on campus. As a sophomore, I'm now serving as elections and credential commissioner for Student Government Association. It's truly possible for all students to be involved in any activity they feel passionate about.
I've also found a field of study I know I'll enjoy. I'm majoring in global studies, with a minor in Spanish. I enjoy traveling and learning about other cultures and want to make a positive impact on the world. The global studies major seemed to fit my passions and I simply enjoy Spanish. Eventually, I plan to attend graduate school or work for a non-profit organization.
I selected Concordia because of the people. The openness and genuine nature of the staff, faculty and students here impressed me. I felt at home - which is important because my family lives eight hours away. I was also drawn to the study abroad program and language study opportunities. Concordia provides me with the chance to excel both as a student and as a leader.
