A Focus On Families
By Jalayna Rick '07
I've always loved taking part in activities here at Concordia. My mom and sister are both graduates, so I knew all about Concordia and its events even before I was a student. Now I have an opportunity to help other Cobber siblings have similar memorable experiences.
I led Family Weekend 2005. Family is a huge part of my life and I love being a part of a program that brings families together. During the weekend, Concordia featured a wide variety of fun events, including a football game, family festival, brunch, showcase and all-campus worship. I really enjoyed serving on the committee last year and had so much fun this year as well.
Family Weekend is an important part of my life at Concordia, but I also enjoy many other activities. I'm a student first, with a biology major and minors in chemistry and psychology. I hope to attend medical school and become a dermatologist. I'm a member of the biology honor society and the chemistry club. I have volunteered with local organizations as well, including a Moorhead elementary school, Habitat for Humanity and the YWCA women's shelter. Thanks to these opportunities, I've learned so much about time-management, leadership and responsibility.
Concordia has taught me so much about myself, my faith and the endless possibilities available to me in the future. I truly feel I have benefited in many ways by attending Concordia.
