A Perfect Fit
By Emily Mundt '05

When it came time to apply for law schools, I knew I had a clear advantage. Concordia's small class sizes allowed my professors to get to know me personally, and they truly cared about my future. All of that showed through in their letters of recommendation, giving law schools an accurate reflection of who I am and what I can do.

Today, I'm a student at the University of St. Thomas School of Law, where I received a scholarship to pursue a J.D. and an M.A. in psychology. Originally, I wanted to earn a Ph.D. in psychology, but discovered a few schools that featured dual degrees. Because I eventually want to practice family law and provide psychological counseling, it was a perfect fit.

While studying psychology and Spanish at Concordia, Dr. Monica Mori was an especially important faculty mentor to me. She served as my academic advisor, I worked for her as a teaching assistant and she helped me sort out my future plans. It was so helpful to have a caring professor to help guide me through my years at Concordia.

I also enjoyed the opportunities I found at Concordia - including the CREDO honors program, a faculty and student research project, psychology club and volunteering through Campus Service Commission. I learned valuable leadership skills and strengthened my commitment to service, all of which has prepared me for my current adventure - law school!
