Hitting The Ground Running
By Emma Klingenstein '09

I wasted no time getting involved in activities at Concordia. During my first semester I served on the Campus Service Commission as a program director of Madison Elementary School tutoring, coordinating all of the Concordia students volunteering at the school. I also found other ways to get involved on campus, such as working on a few Homecoming sub-committees. Even though I had a lot on my plate as a new student, I'm thankful I got involved right away. It was a great opportunity for me to meet other students and reach out to the Fargo-Moorhead community.

All around, my first year was truly a growing experience. As a biology major and chemistry minor, on the premed track, I was pushed academically and quickly learned to better manage my time, a skill I will use for years to come.

My professors greatly helped me on my journey, always very willing to take time to discuss my class progress and future plans. My adviser, Dr. Gerry Van Amburg, the biology department chair, mentored me throughout the year, helping me choose classes and plan out my next three years at Concordia.

Concordia was a great choice for me. The people are friendly, the campus is inviting, the academics are excellent and there are plenty of extracurricular activities. By choosing Concordia, I know I'm going to get the most out of my college education - growing academically, spiritually and as a leader.
