Time For Football And Physics
By Matt Kleber '06

Football at Concordia met and exceeded every expectation I had as a freshman. During my four years, I learned teamwork, leadership and a strong work ethic playing football - along with making great friendships that will last long beyond my years on the field.

If I wasn't on the football field, you likely could have found me in the lab at Concordia. I majored in physics and math and am now working for a health care software development company in Madison, Wis. Eventually I'd like to become a professor or work in the industry with researching.

The research opportunities at Concordia are amazing. I worked with my physics professor and another student on the creation of a mini-modular neutron array detector (MoNA) to assist in the study of cosmic rays. I participated in a nuclear physics experiment with the full-sized MoNA at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Lab. I also presented a physics study's findings during the annual poster session and was involved with a research project in the math department.

In addition to sports and academics, I found I really enjoyed attending the on-campus worship services called Sunday Night at East. It was also comforting knowing you could talk openly about faith and religion on campus. You don't find that everywhere.
