From Football To Graphic Design
By Nick Didier '05
As a kid I loved watching the Olympics and imagining what it must feel like wearing the red, white and blue. I experienced a taste of that pride my senior year at Concordia when I was chosen to play for the American Football Coaches Association All-American Team. As I donned my USA jersey with my number on it, I couldn't help but think of the Olympics. It was truly a dream come true.
This was one of many wonderful experiences I enjoyed while playing football at Concordia. I was able to play all four years and helped lead our team to the first MIAC championship in several years. I developed lifelong friends, pushed myself as an athlete and learned many valuable life lessons.
Football excellence was one of the reasons I chose Concordia, but so was the impressive communication department. As a communication and graphics art double major, my work as a graphic designer in Concordia's Office of Communications and Marketing, an internship at Bankshot Productions and a research project creating a video about Concordia's Dovre Center for Faith and Learning also played important roles in my career preparation.
Today I'm living in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., where I'm enjoying my first graphic design job - with Atlas Buying Group or ABG. As a graphic designer, I help with numerous projects for our clients, including newspaper ads, solo mail, window vinyls, logos and more. I'm enhancing my own design skills while gaining valuable experience at the same time.
