Not Going It Alone

I took a lot of things into consideration when choosing a college - I visited 11 schools in all. One of the main reasons I chose Concordia is that I knew I wanted to be involved in music and the sciences. (I plan to eventually return to Montana to practice family medicine.) I believe my music makes me a better scientist and my science makes me a better musician. They are more closely connected than a lot of people may think.
Ultimately, Concordia's HPAC (Health Professions Advisory Committee) was an important factor in my college decision. This advisory panel of faculty members works with each individual student during the application process to health professional schools. Concordia's professors showed me that if the students are willing to do the work to get into medical school, they will work just as hard to help them with the process. Other schools made me feel like I was completely on my own. Here, I feel so welcomed and supported.
I have grown so much since I began attending Concordia. The professors encourage you to grow and explore new topics and ideas. The emphasis here is learning - not just memorizing facts. Through my experience on an Exploration Seminar to the Czech Republic, choir, Campus Ministry activities such as Habitat for Humanity, and my classes, I've learned so much. And I am a better person now than when I started college.
