Concordia College welcomes students from Norway!  You can earn your Bachelor degree from Concordia, or attend for a year or a semester as part of your Bachelor studies in Norway.

We offer a high standard of education at a reasonable cost, with more than 60 academic and pre-professional programs.  Our campus is safe and welcoming.  We have extraordinarily active and award winning international programs.

Students applying to Concordia should be academically above average, with an open approach and intellectual curiosity, who are eager to become responsibly engaged with the world.

Concordia was founded in 1891 by Norwegians who emigrated to the Red River Valley.  We are proud of our heritage and seek to maintain strong ties with Norway.

If you have completed videregående skole or gymnasium, Concordia can evaluate your vitnemål and in most cases award you 24 semester transfer credits.  That means you can join Concordia with sophomore (second year) standing, so:

  1. You obtain Lånekassen assistance the first year you attend and every year you attend.
  2. You can complete a Bachelor degree in 3 years at Concordia if you take a full load each year.

Joining as a second year student with 24 semester transfer credits is also possible if you have an IB Diploma and earned 30 or more points.

Please note that Concordia requires 126 semester credits to graduate.  24 semester transfer credits places you at sophomore standing but is not one quarter of the way to earning a degree, so to graduate in three years a Norwegian student needs 102 additional credits, or 34 credits each year.  A normal full time student load at Concordia is 30 to 34 credits per year.  In order to graduate in three years a Norwegian student should take 34 credits each year, or consider taking a summer session class one summer.

Norwegian students who attend receive strong financial support from the first day you arrive.   You will receive a $13,000 King Olav V Scholarship from Concordia, and usually NOK 220,000 (about $37,800 as of March 2013, but please remain aware exchange rates can and do change) support from Lånekassen, so you will have more than $50,000 of financial support per year available.  Our total cost to attend for 2013-14 will be $44,594.  You can see the assistance exceeds the cost.  You can read our handout which has current cost and support information.
