Course Objectives:
This is a course in basic computer concepts and software applications for students who have limited experience with computers. After completing this course the student should be able to:
  • Understand basic computing concepts and PC operations.
  • Use word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software to solve appropriate case study problems.
  • Use Internet resources effectively.
  • Use the computer as a personal productivity tool.

  • (Note: This course satisfies the computer requirements for business and MIS majors.)

    Attendance
    Make every effort to attend class regularly since much of the learning in this course will be hands-on experience supplemented by lectures. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to ascertain what was missed and complete the necessary work.
    Labs, Assignments and Exams
    There will be a daily lab assignment for each class, and it is generally due at the BEGINNING of the next class. You should turn in all assignments on time. 
    Grading
    Grades will be given in curve. However, the following grades are guaranteed. A: 90-100%, B: 80-89%, C: 70-79%, D: 60-69%, F: 0-59% (+ or - used).  KEEP ALL GRADED homework and exams to protect yourself in the rare case that a grade is misrecorded.
     
    3 Exams -- 30%, Daily Work  -- 20%, Quizzes -- 12%, 3 Projects -- 18%, Final Project -- 20%
