Reflective Questions (have your response ready by Friday and turn it in on Monday)

1. Considering your future career, think of a task you may be called upon to do that will make chemistry tests seem trivial (e.g., Ph.D. defense or having to inform a mother that her child has leukemia, etc.). Do you feel that you have the strength to complete the task in a professional manner?

2. Last spring the space shuttle Columbia exploded during the landing phase after a 16 day science mission in orbit around earth. The crash left no survivors. The members of the crew knew the risks involved in the mission which include scenarios like that seen with Columbia. Why do you suppose these people went? Do you think that there is any value in exploring space? If so, what?
