The liver cells (hepatocytes) can remove glucose from the blood and convert it to glycogen for storage. The glycogen granules stain an instense red in these slides. The nuclei of these cells are also very easy to see. Refer to the text book for discussion of the chromatin material (Cormack; figs. 2-1 and 2-2). The "shadows" of RBC's can also been seen in the sinusoids and the central vein of the liver.
