Office Fundamentals -- Lab 3

Introduction

Each chapter in the textbook uses a set of data files as sample documents for students to work on. These files can be copied from the CD-ROM enclosed at the end of your textbook or from the “acdutil” server on campus dedicated to that purpose.  These files should be stored on your (X:) drive so they will not be deleted when the lab computers are re-imaged and not get in the way of other students who may use the same lab computer.

First, create a folder on your X: drive named CSC 104. (You may have done this already in the previous chapter)

Next copy the files to the CSC 104 folder.

·         If you are copying from the CD_ROM:

o   Insert the CD-ROM and a program should run automatically that guides you through the copy process.

o   Select the folders you want to copy.

o   You can then specify the destination of the copied files

o   Choose X-Drive, CSC 104 folder

·         If you are copying from the “acdutil” server:

o   Start Windows Explorer

o   Type \\acdutil  in the address bar. (Notice the \\ not //)

o   Click on cs104t.  This is a folder reserved for our class.

o   Click on Office 2010. Here you should see a folder for each of the major sections of our textbook.

o   Select all of these folders, copy them, then paste them into your new CSC 104 folder on your X: drive

·         There is a second CD-ROM accompanying your Excel 2007 textbook for which you can repeat this process, or if you chose to copy the first set of files from the server rather than the CD-ROM the extra Excel files have already been added and should show up in the Excel folder.
