SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID
Yes, financial aid and, more specifically, scholarships are available.
Applications are presently being screened for the 2005 Speech and
Debate
Scholarship program. However, most people who compete on our team
do NOT have designated speech and debate scholarships. For more
information
about financial aid at Concordia you can look
at the Admissions website.
If you'd like information right away--contact the Concordia
Admissions
Office.
SQUIDLY THINGS
You might ask, "What's with this stuff about the squid?"
Just as many members of the Concordia Forensics Program have totems, so
there is a totem for the squad as a whole. That totem is, indeed, the
giant
squid. As is usually true with totemic choices, there were a number of
reasons leading to the choice of the squid.
-
Phonetics: It's just a cheap phonetic link between "squad" and "squid."
-
Diversity and Unity: We have a lot of difference within the Concordia
Forensics
program--hard core competitors and dabblers; interpers, public address
folk and debaters; straight arrows and seriously twisted people; big
high
school experience, no high school experience...
-
The giant squid "is able to withstand tremendous pressure."
-
Mike Wentworth and "the squid introduction," which led to "squid
fantasy
which is actualized upon the crossing of "squid threshold."
