MAIN VERB PHRASES

 

1.         Print out a clean copy of your ten sentences.

 

2.         Underline the main verb phrase in each clause. Do not underline the verbal phrases you identified in a previous exercise.

 

3.         If the verb phrase is Passive or Subjunctive, label it as such and do nothing more.

 

4.         If the verb phrase is Negative or Emphatic, circle the “not” or “do” and proceed.

 

5.         For each remaining verb phrase indicate these features:

            a.         Tense (present - past)

            b.         Modal verb (if present)

            c.         Aspect ( perfect, progressive, both, or none)

            d.         Main verb
