Ten Sentences 2

[ For Mənde, trænskraib yor tεn sεntεnsεs Intu ðə AI.Pi.E. ælfəbεt. Pe spεšəl ətεnšən tu hau ðə wərdz saund, nɔt hau ðe r spεld ] *

* For Monday, transcribe your ten sentences into the I.P.A. alphabet. Pay special attention to how the words sound, not how they are spelled.

Recommendations:

1.         Work with a clean copy of your sentences. If you have not yet tweaked the master copy, do so now. Don’t forget the MLA-style Works Cited entry.

2.         Write your transcription directly above or below the original. It probably will work best if you double or triple space the original.

3.         Strive for a descriptive transcription (denoted with [ ]’s). Try to capture the words as you say them.

4.         Focus on pronunciation rather than spelling. For instance, if a word is spelled with double consonants or silent terminal e’s, you will not need them in the IPA version.

5.         For clarity, retain the original punctuation and capitalization.
