2008 Concordia Energy Consumption Monitor By: Claire Wykes, Emmanuel Williams, Chris Babich, Carl Babich, Justin Burke, Edward GyamfiNuamah, Stewart Herman, Vijay Shanmugasundaram |
You can use this website to check the power use of the campus as a whole, and the power use of each individual building. You can estimate your own energy consumption by checking out how many watts each of your electric appliances uses and then doing the following calculation How to estimate your energy consumption (Wattage × Hours Used Per Day ÷ 1000 = Daily Kilowatt-hour (kWh) consumption (1 kilowatt (kW) = 1,000 Watts) |
These are common examples of the amount of watts of some commonly used appliances that students use daily at Concordia. - clock radio (10) - coffee maker (900-1200) - washer (350-500) - dryer (1800-5000) - window fan (55-250) - hair dryer (1200-1875) - microwave oven (750-1100) - CPU - awake/asleep = (120/30) - Monitor - awake/asleep = (150/30) - Laptop (50) - T.V. - 19" - 36" = (65-133) |
