Tuesday's With Morrie by Mitch Albom
Questions for Part I, pp. 1-68

1.  Morrie was obviously an important mentor for Mitch.  Who are your mentors?  What is the role of a mentor?  What do you think makes them special?  Do you think you are a mentor for someone?

2.  On p. 15, Mitch describes the death of his favorite uncle.   What kinds of encounters have you had with death?

3.  Describe the "tension of opposites" (pp 39-40) as it applies to your life?

4.  How do you think it feels to be in Morrie's shoes? . . . To need help with everything even going to the bathroom . . . would you want to live?

5.  How has suffering changed Morrie (pp. 50 +)?  What gives him meaning and purpose?

6.  Pages 50-52 are among my favorite in the book.  I even got Mitch Albom to sign my copy on those pages.  Why is it so important to Morrie that Mitch "loosen up"?  Why do you think he wants him to be comfortable with crying?

7.  Have you ever been in a position to help someone who themselves are helpless?
