Present:  Armin Pipho, Bob Nick, Bob Kohler, Doug Perry, Bob Kohler, Stephanie Brandt, Steve Baumgartner, Marion Askegaard, Larry Papenfuss, Dave Klug

1.  Larry and Marion reviewed the Agenda for 2001-2002

2.  Agreed to set aside the following dates for meetings in first semester:

3.  Some discussion of individual items which will be taken up at later meetings.

4.  The most urgent item on the agenda is the collection of assessment data.  It was suggested that we might proceed by having people identify specific data that we will use to assess our department goals.  We are to bring these suggestions to the next meeting on Friday, Sept. 28th.

Larry gave an example of one of the department goals in Health is that students be able to locate valid and reliable sources in Health.  One of the primary responsibilities identified in our Department Assessment plan is an assignment given in Health 220 where students conduct a literature search.  He suggested collecting five random student literature searches as a way of determining student ability.

The following people agreed to do this:

5.  In addition to assessment, one other issue on the agenda will be discussed at each future meeting.

6.  Bob Kohler raised an additional agenda item to explore offering officiating course in each of the major sports.
