Economics of Environment and Energy

In recent years we have been confronted with one of the most challenging issues in nearly a century. It is harder for some people to deal with then sending young men and women to war against each other. The prevailing question is, how do we deal with the unavoidable issue of the degrading environment that we continue to create. Many answers have been posed to the question, but few have fallen on the ears that need to hear it the most. We attack population with remarkable success, but only on the premise that if I have less children I can consume more. It is a self defeating purpose if you are truly for the environment. Fittingly my area of Economics and Energy fit rather nicely into the challenge to all Americans (in particular) to stop the extreme over consumption patterns they have enjoyed over the past few decades. Our government spends millions of dollars each year promoting our economic way of life, when in reality it is doubtful that the Earth could sustain the consumption patterns people would then expect. It is agreeable that we need to bring all people out of poverty and into well meaning self sustaining lives. The only question that remains is:
"Are YOU willing to give up a piece of the pie to share with all humanity?"
