Research area: Applying Knowledge-based techniques, designing and implementing large Knowledge-based Systems for Engineering Design and for Agricultural Planning using an Object-oriented approach. Responsibilities include analyzing the knowledge requirements and managing the daily activities of the project, as well as directing the research of graduate students.
June 1989 - May 1993: Research Assistant, Intelligent Systems Laboratory, Michigan State University. Work with Dr. Martin Hawley, Composite Materials Center, Michigan State University, and Dr. Jon Sticklen to develop a knowledge-based system for the design of fabrication protocols for thermoset composite materials.
March 1988 - August 1992: Teaching Assistant, Computer Science Department, Michigan State University. Assisted in teaching selected undergraduate as well as graduate level courses. I assisted in teaching both general computer science courses and knowledge-based systems courses.

My research focus is on integrated knowledge based systems for advanced problem solving, as well as on the use of Intelligent Agents technology to enhance the performance of knowledge based systems. Basic research in these topics is being applied to application areas including agricultural management, traffic control, and office management. I am also interested in aspects of human-computer interaction especially as they pertain to agent-based systems.

2006 - now: Member of the Fargo Moorhead Abrahamic Interfaith Group. Through this group, I co-organized several events to foster inter-religious understanding in the Fargo Moorhead area.
September 2001 – now: I regularly conduct seminars, and participate in community forums explaining the religion of Islam. I participated in several different events including seminars at several local and regional college campuses, various community and church groups in Fargo/Moorhead, and other communities in North Dakota and Minnesota, as well as several radio forums.
