With the goal of becoming an astrophysicist, I earned my Bachelor's
degree in physics at a small Presbyterian College (I am after all, a
small Presbyterian, descended from authentic Scottish Presbyterians). I
later changed course in research to do experimental studies of
collisions of electrons, ions,
and atoms with atoms and molecules. I became specialized in the
particularly
tricky business of preparing atomic hydrogen and oxygen targets for
laboratory
collision experiments. In 1990, I came to Concordia College to teach
physics
and astronomy.
Recently I have begun working in the new (to me) area of laser
chemistry. My last sabbatical was spent carrying out
spectroscopic studies of laser light with binary liquid mixtures. For more, visit the Physical Chemistry Research Group page.
