NAICS - Economic Census, HS and DUN numbers

NAICS: Classification numbers that identify businesses with similar products and/or services for US public companies. "The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS pronounced Nakes)..."  - From NAICS FAQ's.        

US Census Bureau collects business data from public companies in an economic census every 5 years and classifies goods & services by NAICS numbers. The most recent economic census was in 2007. Analyzed data is available for 2002 and 2007.  Information page for 2012 Economic Census

Databases that search by NAICS numbers

HS: Harmonized System numbers are used across countries for trade import and export. The United States records all products (merchandise) using these 10-digit numbers. These numbers can be used for market research, to identify foreign markets where a product is being exported.
