Thomas search US Congress for new legislationLogin to Refworks
How to get articles from databases into RefworksLegislation issues. Remember to check actual legislation before making judgments on news reports. Example: What is SOPA? (Stop Online Piracy Act). On Jan. 18, 2012 Google blacked out it's logo with the black space linking to information on SOPA. To find the actual legislation for this is a bit tricky. I check Thomas and searched for Piracy Act there are multiple bills proposed during 2011 on this topic. So which one was Google referring to?
How do you keep up with the news? RSS readers or setup email alerts may help - see online sources
Use FindIt to locate specific magazines and journals Concordia has access.
Use Ulrich's Periodical Directory to locate names of magazines and journals by subjectAre you graduating soon? Access to most Concordia subscription databases disappears when you graduate. What can you do?
Get a public library card. Many States provide access to subscription resources using a library card. Ex.: Minnesota has ELM.
Try setting up your RSS feeds with the Statewide links so they carry over after you graduate. The RSS URL will be different. NOTE: When creating a search RSS from ELM the FindIt will not be available in the results.
