Building Vocabulary - key to searching

Vocabulary is the key for finding what you want. Similar terms, variant spelling and spacing will effect your search. For example: healthcare or health care. Your healthcare vocabulary will grow as you learn more in class. Make note of words used to describe ideas. 

Use a healthcare dictionary when you don't understand a word.

Try subject encyclopedias from other areas, note variant terms for healthcare  

Use a database thesaurus to find terms used for your topic

Many databases include a thesaurus or subject searching.
MnPALS Library Catalog - click a subject heading when you find a book.
MeSH Terms Medical Subject Headings used in NLM Gateway, PubMed, CINAHL 
    Click on Term Finder. Type "health care delivery" find term box.
