What is a primary research article in Science?
A primary research article in Science is an article that describes an original experiment that leads to the creation of new knowledge in a specific field of Science. A primary research article should contain the following elements.
- Title of the article
- Names of authors
- Abstract of the article
- Background research that lead to this experiment
- Description of the experiment or original research
- Explanation or recipe for the experiment conducted (what was done)
- Results of the experiment (diagrams, graphs, charts, etc.)
- Conclusions reached as a result of this experiment
- References and Notes (Citations listing sources these authors used to create this experiment)
