POLICY ON ACADEMIC RESPONSIBILITY
"It is expected of both faculty and students that they act with academic honesty and integrity." See the General Catalog and Student Handbook for further details.
POP QUIZZES, HOMEWORK, AND ATTENDANCE
Pop quizzes will be used in this course. In some cases, quizzes will be given immediately after the reading assignment and before the material is covered in class. To encourage thorough learning by regular practice and class attendance, the following policies will apply:
Each pop quiz or homework assignment/problem collected will have a value of 10 points. These pop quizzes or homework assignments cannot be made up. Homework (problem/exercise) assignments are turned in during class or before class. To receive credit, turn in assignments on time. You will be allowed to drop three of the lowest scores.
You can earn a possible 80 points for class participation.
GRADING
Grading will be done on the basis of total points earned in the class. Cutoff levels for each grade will be determined for each of the components. Those will then be summed to obtain total final cutoff levels for the entire course. The cutoff levels will be announced during the course.
TOTAL POSSIBLE POINTS:
Pop
quizzes/assignments
100
Class
participation
80
Exams
300
Final comprehensive examination 150
TOTAL POINTS POSSIBLE 630
Keep all graded papers until final grades are received. If you are concerned about your grade at any time, feel free to talk to me at your convenience. A final grade lower than a "C" indicates you should consider taking the course again, as you probably have not learned enough to pass the next required accounting course for business majors and minors.
SUGGESTIONS FOR SUCCESS
Prepare for each class by studying the reading material which is assigned, or implied by the written assignment. Class time will be used to improve your mastery of material which you have studied and which you want help in understanding.
Test your mastery of the reading material my making a serious effort to complete all parts of each assignment. Use the review problem at the end of each chapter to assess your learning.
Prepare for each class by identifying specific points or general areas where you need help.
You will want to understand how to solve a problem and also why it is solved this way. Accounting is not difficult, but the only way you can learn it is by digging it out for yourself. The instructor cannot do it for you.
Attend every class and do not get behind. Help is available so
be sure to use it. Good luck!!!!
