5/10 To Santorini
Saturday morning, we checked out of our hotel in Mykonos and took a ferry to the island of Paros, where we had a "layover" for about an hour. We then took a huge Blue Star ferry to Santorini. The ride was a couple hours long; we arrived at about 3 p.m. that afternoon. As we prepared to exit the ferry, we were reminded of all of you back at home; the exit horn of the ferry was the tune "There's No Place Like Home!" After arriving at Santorini's New Port, we took a charter bus up the side of the mountain--it was a precarious journey as there were several steep switchbacks on the way up. We drove to Kamari, the town in which our hotel was located. After checking in, some of us hung out by the pool, some walked around the village, and some ventured down the 10 or so meters to the Aegean Sea. We had a delicious buffet dinner at the hotel that night as we looked forward to "three more days on the beach," according to D. Anderson, our fearless leader.
