19 05 Florence, to the Alps
Some got up early this morning and part of the group chose to go see Santa Croce. Others slept in and caught a little breakfast for our train rides to Interlaken. The views of the Italian countryside and Swiss Alps were amazing. Switzerland seemed to have a little of everything: aqua blue lakes and rivers fresh from the mountain snow above as well as waterfalls, forests, green valleys, and flowers. However, one of our trains was almost 90 degrees, so you can imagine our relief to finally arrive in Interlaken and get off the steaming train. From Interlaken we had a great view of the mountains above us including the one we were to partially climb the next day. We then headed to our hotel, which was the nicest hotel we have had yet! With down comforters and nice big bath tubs, we were all relieved to settle in to this cozy hotel in the Swiss Alps. Many of us shopped around and hit up the local McDonald's before finally going to bed after a long day of traveling.

The beautiful facade of Santa Croce.
Michelangelo's Tomb inside Santa Croce.
We didn't actually get to see this because of restoration inside the church but due to Swing's excellent photography we took a picture of the poster to make it look like we actually saw the tomb.
