14 05 Delphi

May 14 We got an early start this morning with a walk to the temple grounds of upper and lower Delphi. This was the temple dedicated to Apollo where a priestess predicted the future for cities, major battles, and personal inquiries. We saw a temple and training area on the lower grounds at Delphi. The upper grounds had the Temple of Apollo, what the site's famous for, the theatre, the stadium, where they held some athletic games, and many treasuries that were full of money based on good fortunes the priestess gave. We ate lunch at a traditional style taverna and boarded the bus for a three hour bus ride to Athens where we got on a plane to Rome in the evening.
