Lee Rahrlien and John Fradette helped the Cobbers finish sixth out of 11 schools in the team competition. Both wrestlers captured second place honors in their respective weight classes. Rahrlien used a 2-1 record at 165 and Fradette went 3-1 at 141. Rahrlien came the closest to an individual title. His 10-8 loss in the championship bout to Adam O'Neil of Harper College was one of the most exciting of the entire meet. Rahrlien is now 21-7 on the year and has 84 career victories. Fradette, seeded fourth in his weight class, stormed into the championship match with three straight victories. He ended up losing 13-8 to Jeremy Powell of Triton College but is back on the winning track after suffering a loss by pin in the Cobbers' dual meet against Southwest Minnesota State. His three victories places him in the team lead for wins in 2005-06. He has 22 victories on the year. Luke Vetsch lost his first match of the meet but then rattled off three straight wins to claim third place at 174. Vetsch was unseeded and lost a 12-6 decision to second-ranked Mike Jackowski of UW-Platteville in the opening match. Ed Oehlers and Tony Neumann were the final two Cobber wrestlers in the fantastic five on Saturday. Oehlers, like Vetsch, lost his opening match but then won two of his final three to finish fourth at 197. Neumann recorded the most wins of any Cobber wrestler at the meet. He won four matches in the 174 division and claimed fifth place. Concordia will return home to host a pair of dual meets next week. The Cobbers will square off against Jamestown on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 7:00pm and then battle Northern State on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 7:00pm. Both matches will be in Memorial Auditorium.
