For the third straight time this season, Concordia had several outstanding results in an open meet and placed three wrestlers in the top four of the various weight classes. The Cobbers were led by freshman John Fradette who captured third place in the 142-lb weight class by posting a 5-1 overall record. Fradette won his first match of the meet and then dropped his second match in the championship bracket to Ben Moss of Augsburg. Moss was undefeated on the year coming into the meet. Fradette would finish the meet by beating Moss 8-4 to capture third place in the weight class. Fradette is now 9-3 in the past two open meets and has placed in the top four in both competitions. Besides Fradette, P.J. Mack and Lee Rahrlien posted fourth place finishes. Mack went 4-2 in the 149-lb weight class. He won his first match and then lost a tough 7-2 decision to Jared Evans of Augsburg. Evans is currently ranked fourth in the nation. Mack went on to win three straight matches before losing to Brandon Kok 3-1 in overtime in the third place match. Rahrlien continues to post impressive results in his senior season. He has finished in the top four in two of the three open meets and holds the only dual match win for the Cobbers this season. In the Dragon Open, he amassed a 4-2 record at 157 to finish fourth. After winning his first two matches, Rahrlien lost a 10-9 heartbreaker against Danny Meyer in the semifinals. Rahrlien then won his first match in the consolation before falling to Tim Matzek of Augsburg in the third place match.
