Cobbers Compete at Bison Open |

Courtesy of GoCobbers.com, Release: November 12 Complete Bison Open Results FARGO, N.D.-- Concordia competed in its first open meet of the season as they crossed the river to take part in the annual Bison Open. Concordia was represented in all 10 weight classes at the meet and had 13 wrestlers compete in the event. Senior Lee Rahrlien had the best day of any Cobber wrestler. Rahrlien went 4-1 and finished in third place in the 157-lb division. He won his first two matches of the day before dropping his semifinal bout to Matt Everson of the University of Minnesota. He was the only Concordia wrestler to make it out of the quarterfinals in the championship bracket. He is now 5-1 on the season. Besides Rahrlien, the only other two Concordia wrestlers to make it to the quarterfinals in their weight class were David Ahmed in the 165-lb class and freshman Tony Neumann in the 184-lb division. Both Ahmed and Neumann finished the day with a 1-2 record. Two other Cobbers posted at least two wins on the day. John Fradette continued his early-season success by going 3-2 and making a charge through the wrestlebacks in the 142-lb class. Along the way he beat a couple of NCAA Division I wrestlers from NDSU. Luke Vetsch went 2-2 at 174. He lost in his opening match to Gabe Dretsch, the eventual weight-class champion and a representative of the University of Minnesota. Concordia will return to action when they host the annual Cobber Open on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 9:00am.
