COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (2/07/09)--Concordia capped off the multiple-team invitational portion of their schedule by placing six wrestlers in the top five of their weight class at the North Country Invite hosted by St. John's on Saturday. In their last invite before the NCAA Regional Meet, the Cobbers took 22 wrestlers and came away with 36 overall victories.

The big story of the day came in the 184-lb weight class where Concordia sophomore Phil Moenkedick won four matches and came away with another invitational championship. Moenkedick was 4-0 on the day and remained unbeaten on the season. He is now 28-0 on the year. Moenkedick won two matches by pin fall and upped his team-leading pin total to 12 on the year.

Justin Berns was the only other CC wrestler to get to the championship match. He went 4-1 at 149 and finished second. He also took over the team lead in wins. He now has 35 victories on they year and is three shy of the Cobber single season record of 38 held by Mike Northcutt.

Mike Holman went 3-1 at 133 and finished in third place. Luke Vetsch tied Berns and Moenkedick for most wins at the invite. He went 4-1 at 165 and finished third. Ross Dankers was 3-2 and finished fourth at 174 and Nick Nadeau was 2-2 at 285 and captured fifth place.

Concordia will try and tie the school record for most dual-meet wins in a season when they host the University of Mary on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.
