Meet Recap
JAMESTOWN, Minn. (1/23/09)--Concordia continued their successful 2008-09 season by crowning three champions and placing six wrestlers in the finals at the Jamestown Open on Saturday. The three champions and six finalists represent the best multiple-team invitational outing of the season. The Cobbers had the most champions and finalists of any team at the invite.

Ben Anderson, Phil Moenkedick and Tony Neumann all came away with individual weight class championships. Daron Hohbein, Joe Leacox and Justin Berns were the three Cobber wrestlers who claimed second-place honors.

All three wrestlers who won championships went 4-0 at the meet. For Anderson, who won the championship at 141, it was his first invite title of the season. Moenkedick improved his overall record to 21-0 on the season at 184, while Neumann earned his second invite title of the year at 197 and is now 25-5.

Hohbein lost to NCAA Division I wrestler Justin Solberg of NDSU in the final at 125. Hohbein was 3-1 at the meet and is now 21-6 on the year. Leacox was also 3-1 and fell in the finals at 133. It was his best outing in an invite this year. He bumped his record to 12-15. Berns improved his team-leading season win total to 29 by going 3-1 at 149. He is now 29-10 on the season and is one of five wrestlers that have earned 20 wins on the year.

Concordia also had six other athletes place in the top five of the meet. Hieu Pham was fourth at 133, Mike Holman was also fifth at 133, PJ Mack also posted a fourth-place finish at 149, Lane Lunde lost in the semifinals at 157 but then came back to win the third-place match and Ross Dankers and Spencer Lund claimed fourth and fifth-place honors at 174.

Concordia will turn their attention to dual meets in the next 10 days as they square off in three different duals. The Cobbers will host Jamestown on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. in the first of the three duals.
