Meet Recap:

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (2/09/08)-- Phil Moenkedick continued his outstanding freshman season on Saturday at the North Country Invite. Moenkedick went 4-0 to capture the championship of the 174-lb weight class. It is his third multiple-team invite weight class title of the season. The four wins also pushes his season record to 31-4. He is the first Concordia wrestler to break the 30-win barrier in a season since Lee Rahrlien went 32-9 in 2004-05.

Moenkedick was one of four Cobber wrestlers to place at the always-tough North Country Invite. Three other CC athletes took away fifth-place honors. Joe Leacox went 3-2 in the 133-lb weight division and claimed fifth place. He was joined by Ben Anderson and Cody Salo who also garnered fifth-place honors. Anderson went 3-2 at 141, while Salo was 2-2 at 184.

Moenkedick started his day by posting a pin over Greg Frank Southwest Minnesota State. He then posted a 12-5 decision over Andrew Staberg of St. John's in the quarterfinals. He beat George Lynaugh of No.2-ranked Augsburg 10-7 in the semifinals and then completed the day by beating Craig Kreman of No.1-ranked Warburg 6-5 in the championship match. Kreman is currently ranked 10th in the nation in the latest national poll.

Concordia will head back to dual-meet competition when they travel to Bismarck, N.D. to take on the University of Mary on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.
