Meet Results: 2007 Blue Hawk Classic Results (pdf)

Meet Recap:

DICKINSON, N.D. (1/05/07)-- Concordia junior P.J. Mack finished second at 141 and led another strong showing by the Cobber wrestling team as they opened the 2008 portion of their schedule at the Blue Hawk Classic at Dickinson State (N.D.) on Saturday. It was the team's first competition in almost a month after taking a break for the Christmas holiday.

As a team, Concordia finished in third place. The Cobbers finished with a final team total of 83.0 points, which is the highest score at a multi-team invite for CC in recent history. Concordia finished behind host Dickinson State, who is ranked fifth in the latest NAIA national wrestling poll and Chadron State (Neb.) who is currently ranked 11th in NCAA Division II.

Mack was one of eight CC wrestlers that finished in the top five of their weight class. He advanced to the championship match in the 141-lb weight class but then had to forfeit.

The freshman dynamic duo of Justin Berns and Phil Moenkedick started 2008 the same way they finished off 2007. Both wrestlers finished in third place, dropping only one match along the way. Berns won his third-place match at 149 by a technical fall and Moenkedick claimed a 7-1 decision in his third-place match at 184.

The five wrestlers that claimed wins in fifth-place matches included Joe Leacox (133), Lane Lunde (165), DJ Ringquist (174), Cody Salo (184) and Tony Neumann (197).

The Cobbers will now travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to compete in the national dual tournament on Feb. 12-13 at the Unidome on the campus of Northern Iowa.
