(1/30/07)-- No.27-ranked Concordia had too much firepower for Itasca CC, claiming victories in eight of the ten individual matches en route to a 37-10 win over the Vikings in Moorhead on Tuesday. The win pushes the Cobbers' dual win total to seven this season, the most since the 1991-92 season when they also had seven dual meet victories. Concordia is now 7-4 in dual meets this season and has won seven of their past nine dual meets. The highlight of the match came at 184 where the Cobbers' Tony Neumann battled out a 5-3 decision over Aaron Young of Itasca. Young won the Jamestown Open on Saturday by beating Neumann on technical fall (19-3) in the championship match. The two squared off in a classic match that had Neumann coming from behind in the third period to grab the two-point win. For Neumann it is his 19th win of the season. The Cobbers set the tone for the match in the opening bout where sophomore Matt Nyvold pinned John Gray at 5:11. Nyvold had control of the match the entire way and wound up gaining his seventh fall of the season - second most on the team. Joe Leacox was awarded a forfeit at 133 to bring his team-leading win total to 24. He has now won 11 of his last 13 matches. The Vikings strung together a pair of decisive wins in the next two matches to cut the lead to 12-10 but then the Lunde brothers put the match out of reach with a major decision and a solid decision. Logan Lunde captured the major decision at 157 by seizing momentum of the match in the first period and then cruising to a 16-3 win. His younger brother Lane followed at 165 and methodically wore down Jon Brown to gain a 6-2 decision. The win for Lane brings his season record to 21-9 on the year - the best winning percentage of any Cobber wrestler on the team. After the Lunde brothers pushed the margin to 19-10, four more Cobber wrestlers closed out the match with wins. Cody Salo came up with an acrobatic pin at 2:20 in his bout at 174, Neumann then followed with his hard-fought victory before Theo Gagner recorded a win in the closest match of the evening. Trailing 4-3 in the final minute of the third period in his bout at 197 against Nolan Boucher, Gagner was able to come with a takedown and then ride out the remaining 30 seconds to get the win. Dustin Roggenbuck finished the match by capturing a forfeit win at heavyweight. Concordia will continue with their string of four dual matches to end the regular season when they square off against Southwest Minnesota State on Friday, Jan. 2 at 7 p.m. in Marshall, Minn.
