Matt Nyvold (CMC), 7-2 Match Notes: - Meet started at 125. Meet Recap: WADENA, Minn. (1/23/07)--The dual meet battle between Concordia and St. John's matched two of the youngest teams in the region. Of the 20 wrestlers that competed in the meet, 17 were either freshmen or sophomores. Unfortunately for the Cobbers, the Johnnies had the only three juniors or seniors and they helped SJU out-decision Concordia 30-9 in a dual meet held at Wadena-Deer Creek High School on Tuesday. Despite the 21-point margin of victory for St. John's, the dual meet came down six matches that were decided by four points or less. Seven of the ten matches in the meet were decided by a decision as the two teams fought from the opening bout until the final decision for the entire night. The decisive edge in the meet was cast by the three matches that did not go the distance. SJU won all three of those matches by a fall to grab 18 critical team points along the way. Concordia was able to win three of the six matches that were decided by four or fewer points. Joe Leacox continued his hot streak as of late. Leacox went undefeated at the Terry Haws Dual Invitational on Saturday with a perfect 4-0 record and then backed that up by beating Tim Thompson 12-8 in the 133-lb weight class. Leacox has now won his last six matches. The next match in the meet turned out to be one of the highlights for the Cobbers even though they lost by a two-point decision. CC's P.J. Mack battled The Johnnies' Minga Batsukh all the way until the end and lost 6-4. Batsukh is currently ranked third in the nation at 141. After two more SJU victories, Concordia claimed their second win when freshman phenom Logan Lunde wrestled up a weight class to fill in for his brother Lane who sat out the meet with a minor injury. Logan produced one of the three CC wins when he posted a 9-7 decision over Joe Lofboom. The final win of the meet for the Cobbers was turned in by sophomore Tony Neumann who claimed a 6-2 decision over Randy Tietz at 184. Neumann is now 15-14 on the year and one of six Concordia wrestlers to have at least 15 wins on the season. The Cobbers will compete in their final open invitational on Saturday, Jan. 27 when they travel to Jamestown, N.D. to participate in the Jimmie Open beginning at 10 a.m.
