STEVENS POINT, Wis.-- Concordia gave up six goals in the third period, including a pair just seven seconds apart, and lost 10-0 to #5-ranked UW-Stevens Point in Stevens Point, Wis. The Cobbers lost 7-0 to the Pointers in last year's season opener and are now 3-4 in season openers and have not won the first game of a season since the 2002-03 campaign. Concordia held the Pointers at bay for the first 20 minutes, allowing only two goals despite playing with back-up goalie Hannah Valiant who started the game in place of senior Jenna Johnson who was sitting out the period due to a violation of team policies. Valiant finished the period seven saves on nine chances. Johnson came in and played the final 40 minutes and made 24 saves. For the game, the Pointers outshot the Cobbers 41-12. Concordia was 0-for-5 on the power play, while UW-Stevens Point went 2-for-6. The two teams will finish their two-game series on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 3:00pm.
