Gameday Game Recap:

ST. PETER, Minn. (2/13/09)-- Concordia gave up four goals in the third period and fell to No.1-ranked Gustavus 7-0 in St. Peter on Friday. The Cobbers conceded three goals in a span of 1:56 at the start of the final frame and lost to the Gusties for the 12th straight time. CC is now 10-8-4 overall and 7-5-3 in the MIAC. GAC wins for the ninth consecutive game and improves to 17-1-3 and 13-0-2 in league play.

The Cobbers gave up a single goal on the first just 5:00 into the game. The teams then skated through the rest of the period and into the first three minutes of the second period without scoring a goal. That's when Gustavus netted the second goal of the game. Mari Gunderson made the score 2-0 in favor of the Gustavus at 3:22. Allie Schwab followed with the first of her two consecutive goals when she scored her ninth goal of the game at 6:40.

The third period opened with Schwab notching her 10th season goal at 2:13. Then came a Melissa Mackley goal at 2:32 and finally a goal by Mollie Carroll at 4:09. The trio of goals made the score 6-0 and allowed the Gusties to cruise through the third period. GAC scored the final goal of the game at 15:18 to make the final total 7-0.

Concordia was outshot 47-11 in the game. The Cobbers split the goaltending duties. Maddie Haroldson played the first period and made 12 saves. Julie York came on in the second period and stopped 28 shots. Danielle Justice stopped all shots to earn the shutout. Concordia was 0-for-1 on the power play while the Gusties were 1-for-6.

The two teams will finish off their two-game series tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. in St. Peter.
