Gameday Game Recap:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/22/08)-- On Friday Concordia used their offense to come from behind and beat St. Mary's. On Saturday the Cobbers used a stingy defense and a pair of goals from senior Bre Bian to blank the Cardinals 2-0. The win is the fourth straight for CC and keeps them unbeaten in MIAC play at 4-0. Concordia is now 5-1 overall.

The two teams skated through a scoreless first period with neither team being able to produce a sustained offensive attack. In the 20-minute opening frame, the two teams combined for just nine shots with CC holding a 5-4 advantage.

The game started to open up in the second period and Concordia was able to break onto the scoreboard less than a minute into the stanza. Bian got the first of her two goals on the afternoon when she poked home a rebound from the middle of a pack of players in front of the SMU net. Katelyn Dold picked up the first of her two assists in the game.

Concordia held onto the 1-0 lead behind the solid goaltending of sophomore Julie York. York, who was playing in her second straight game of the series, kept the Cardinals off the board by not allowing any rebounds and staying in position throughout the game.

The Cobbers finally added to the one-goal lead midway through the final period. Bian connected on her second goal at the 13:15 mark. Dold and Emily Sell were credited with the assists on the play.

Concordia outshot St. Mary's 24-17 in the game. The 17 shots allowed by CC is the fewest given up in a single game since last season when they only conceded 11 against Hamline on Dec. 1.

York made all 17 saves for the Cobbers and picked up her fourth win of the year. The shutout is the first of the year for York and the second of her career. St. Mary's goalie Madeline Lenz stopped 22 shots.

Concordia will have a two-week break before returning to action to face St. Olaf in Northfield on Dec. 5 and 6.
