Gameday Game Recap:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/19/08)-- Fans arriving late for the Cobber game with St. Olaf on Saturday missed all of the scoring as the teams each scored two goals in the first 12 minutes of play and skated to a 2-2 overtime tie. The tie moves Concordia to 4-2-2 in conference play and keeps them in third place in the league standings. CC is now 4-7-2 overall. The Oles capture three of the four points on the weekend and go to 7-7-1 overall and 4-3-1 in conference play. The Oles are one point behind Concordia in the MIAC standings.

The four-goal first period was started less than two minutes into the game. Mandi Samuelson scored her second goal in as many games just 1:24 into the contest to give CC their first lead in the series. Alyssa Dahl earned her team-leading seventh assist on the play.

The lead would last for over eight minutes until Katie Iraci scored the first of her two goals in the game at 9:57. Kim McClintick and Meghan Stumpf were credited with the assists. The tie would be short-lived as the Cobbers countered with a goal just 22 seconds later. Kacey Franklin notched her second goal in as many games at 10:19 to restore Concordia's one-goal advantage. Kayla Thorson set up the goal and earned her team-leading ninth point of the season. Iraci then scored the final goal of the game when she scored an unassisted goal at 11:59.

From there, the two goaltenders took control of the game. The teams combined for 47 shots in the final two periods and into overtime but no one could get the puck past Cobber goalie Julie York or St. Olaf goalie Erin McNamara. York finished the game with 31 saves, while McNamara - who entered the game after CC scored the opening goal at 1:24 of the first period - stopped 29 shots.

St. Olaf outshot Concordia 33-32 for the game. Neither team was able to score on the power play for the second straight game. The game was another clean affair with the teams only having three power play chances in the 65 minutes of play. CC was 0-for-1 on the man-advantage situation and St. Olaf was 0-for-2.

Concordia will take to the road next weekend when they play at Bethel for a two-game series. The Cobbers and Royals will battle on Friday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. and then again on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m.
