The two teams traded dominating the offensive end in the first two periods. The Cobbers outshot the Oles 11-5 in the opening frame, and then St. Olaf returned the favor by outshooting Concordia 11-6 in the second period. The only goal of the first 40 minutes came in the final minute of the second period when Kayla Hill slammed home a rebound to record her third goal of the year.

The third period went according to the script of the first two periods for the first nine minutes. Neither team was able to score as both goalies kept the score at 1-0. The fireworks then erupted at the 10:44 mark when Kim McClintock scored the first of her two goals in the period.

Concordia countered with a goal less than four minutes later. Mandi Samuelson notched her fourth goal of the year off of an assist from Alyssa Dahl.

McClintock then restored the two-goal advantage with less than two minutes to play. Her fourth goal of the year at 18:09 brought the score to 3-1. The Cobbers then pulled goalie Maddie Haroldson in favor of an extra attacker. The Oles scored 41 seconds later when Laura Wild slid the puck home on the empty net. Concordia then took the faceoff and skated into the Ole zone and netted their second goal of the game eight seconds later. Abby Callahan's goal at 18:58 brought CC to within two at 4-2.

Janae Fabini finished off the scoring with another empty-net goal. Her second goal of the year at 19:24 brought the final score to 5-2.

For the game, St. Olaf outshot Concordia 28-25. Haroldson finished with 23 saves in the game and allowed three goals. Ole goalie Erin McNamara made 23 saves as well to earn her fourth win of the year.

Neither team was able to score on the power play in a clean up-and-down the ice affair. CC was 0-for-2 on the power play, while St. Olaf went 0-for-1.

The two teams will finish off their two-game series on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. at the Moorhead Sports Center.
