MAYVILLE, N.D. -- Concordia held off a late-charging Mayville State team and came away with a 60-56 victory in their final non-conference game before the start of the MIAC season.

The Cobbers watched as an 18-point second half lead was whittled down to a pair of points with three minutes remaining in the game. Concordia then made clutch baskets and free throws down the stretch to come away with the four-point win.

The victory pushes Concordia's overall record to 2-1, while the Comets lose for only the second time this season. They are now 5-2 on the year.

The outside-inside combination of Annie Keeley and Tori Ehlert once again led the Cobbers. Keeley went 7-of-20 from the floor and 4-of-6 from the free throw line to finish with a team-high 17 points. Ehlert recorded her second straight double-double. The senior post player had 13 points and collected a game-high 10 rebounds.

As a team, Concordia shot only 33.9% from the floor (20-of-59) and 69.2% (18-of-26) from the free throw line, but their defense was able to limit the Comets to only 33.3% from the field (18-of-54) and 53.1% (17-of-32) from the line.

The Cobbers raced to a 12-point lead at the break by shooting 41.2% from the field. Defensively they held Mayville State to under 30% from the floor in the opening 20 minutes.

Concordia will start conference action when they play at St. Ben's on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7:30pm.
