Bergeson, formerly Rachel Burgau, played for Concordia during her freshman and sophomore seasons and then helped coach the junior varsity team during her senior season. She graduated from Concordia in 2005 with a degree in Biology and Education. After graduation Bergeson took a job at Braham High School where she was the assistant varsity coach and taught science in the middle school. Besides her duties as women's assistant coach, Bergeson also serves as the Senior Women's Administrator and teaches classes in the Physical Education and health Department. Bergesson is the daughter of Concordia baseball coach Bucky Burgau who was inducted into the Concordia Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007 and is the all-time winningest coach in the history of MIAC baseball. Bergeson is married to Bryant Bergeson who played baseball and football for the Cobbers and was named to the MIAC All-Conference Team in 2005. They live in Moorhead with their son Tyden.
